You’ll have access 60 acres of private property, 200 feet of riverfrontage, boating, a large yard, hammocks and games, and a rustic but well-equipped legit settler’s cottage. You can bring your pet if they are well behaved.
It is hard to deny the rustic charm of this cabin. The area was home to many Native Americans who lived there until the 1830s. They also enjoyed the protected forests and great fishing. The land was first deeded to an early settler, in 1855. The cabin was constructed in 1907. The cabin is still rustic despite being updated with electricity, hotwater, a bathroom/shower and a kitchen. It is ideal for hiking, boating and art, writing retreats, barbecuing, yard games and hammock time.
One bedroom, one loft, a living area with a fireplace, an eight-foot dining table and a kitchen with stove/oven, refrigerator, and many other amenities, as well as a bathroom/shower and porch. The bedroom, loft and fireplace have three full/queen beds. Additional amenities include a leather couch in living room, 2-day beds at windows, and cots and tents available for setup. Many hammocks are set up in the yard, which overlooks the river. The bedroom has air conditioning, while the living room has fans.
You will receive directions and entry codes upon reservation. Also, you will have exclusive access to the riverfront and surrounding forests. White Pelican in Oregon provides shuttle service and canoe/kayak rentals. There are also miles of trails in nearby Lowden-Miller State Forest. The cell service is generally limited to Verizon and US Cellular (AT&T is spotty) and there’s no wifi. Be aware that the river below can become very swift, especially when there is high water. Bring your beach towel.

Oregon, Dixon, Franklin Grove are charming historic towns that offer shopping, dining, and a little bit of nightlife. La Vigna, an excellent little Italian restaurant, is just down the road to Oregon. The road to the cabin is gravel, but in good condition.
