Bross Brothers Cabin is located in Cottleville Missouri. This historic cabin was constructed as an early settlement in the Dardenne area in the 1800s. The village had a country store, a repair shop for wagons and two hotels in 1804. A gristmill was also used for making wheat flour or meal. Many people settled here as they traveled west along the Boonslick Trail. Many stagecoaches and wagon train passengers were there, as well as ponies express riders. The settlement was called Cottleville in 1839. It grew to over 500 people by 1860.
Bross Brothers owned a successful Blacksmith shop downtown, and they lived next to the log cabin. Bross Brothers lived in this cabin and added an extension to the back of the cabin in 1877. During remodel, the fact that the logs had been kept safe from the elements for more than 100 year was not revealed. This was the case until the purchase of the property and when it was decided that the log cabin would need to be demolished. Prior to being pulled down, logs had been marked.
